Job Description

Legal Intern supporting Mercy For Animals’ animal-protection law and advocacy work. Researching laws, drafting memoranda, and assisting campaigns, litigation, policy, and nonprofit compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with high-impact campaigns, litigation, and policy projects
  • Research and analyze federal, state, and local laws
  • Draft legal memoranda
  • Review undercover footage
  • Execute campaigns
  • Assist with administrative and corporate governance tasks related to nonprofit administration and legal compliance
  • Meet virtually at least twice per week with an attorney supervisor
  • Attend Mercy For Animals legal-team meetings and other internal events
  • Meet virtually with fellow Raskin legal interns weekly
  • Attend educational sessions with investigations, campaigns, policy, and organizing teams

Requirements:

  • Open to current law students
  • Lawyers with a license to practice law in at least one U.S. state may apply
  • Minimum commitment of eight weeks
  • Ability to work up to 29 hours per week for eight to 12 weeks
