Job Description
Mainframe CICS programmer supporting Ensono’s managed IT services for enterprise z/OS clients. Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting CICS TS and related OEM products.
Responsibilities:
- Provide premium software support and services to Ensono mainframe clients relating to CICS
- Fulfill customer service orders for mainframe z/OS customers concerning CICS TS and related OEM software products
- Provide primary support for reported CICS TS and related OEM product problems
- Provide support 24×7×365 across multiple time zones
- Install OEM software products according to procedures, best practices, and Ensono standards
- Prepare customer partitions for approximately annual operating-system upgrades with other functional towers
- Support customer migration services and newly acquired customer transitions
- Assist project managers with customer migrations and resolve technical hurdles without delaying transition milestones
- Execute tasks associated with customer disaster-recovery plans in cooperation with Disaster Recovery Services
- Manage schedules and resources for timely implementations
- Follow ITSM change-control procedures, including implementing vendor fixes and upgrading, maintaining, enhancing, or adding options to applicable z/OS products
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required and/or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years experience on the zSeries (mainframe) platform, including hands-on technical experience installing and maintaining products related to CICS TS and OEM product support
- Thorough working knowledge of CICS TS capabilities and use, including installation and tailoring
- Thorough working knowledge and experience with IBM’s SMP/E
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of CICS TS concepts, configuration and tailoring
- Thorough working knowledge of products used to monitor performance of CICS TS regions
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Ability to multitask and work under short deadlines and in high-pressure situations
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently
- Availability for 8AM–5PM local-time shift, on-call, overtime, and scheduled weekend work
- Equivalent work experience may substitute for the required bachelor’s degree
