Job Description
Math Instructor teaching foundational mathematics and ACT/SAT preparation at Vanguard College Prep. Mentoring middle and high school students through personalized, mastery-focused instruction.
Responsibilities:
- Instruct small “core” groups of students in foundational math skills to drive long-term mastery and top ACT/SAT scores
- Monitor student progress using Vanguard’s multi-phase curriculum
- Engage students in individualized growth and improvement opportunities
- Reply to students in a timely manner
- Maintain and update student lesson schedules on Vanguard’s online platform
- Hold students accountable for assignments
- Develop and creatively execute evolving lesson plans and curriculum
- Mentor middle and high school students as they navigate college preparation
- Collaborate within a team environment
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in mathematics, education, or related STEM field from US Schools (Master’s or higher preferred; open to those near graduation)
- Teaching experience in math and/or experience working in a community college or college-level tutoring center (1+ years)
- Academic history demonstrating high achievement (e.g., 3.5+ GPA)
- Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and G-Suites
- Reliable internet connection
- Dedicated, quiet workspace
- Robust understanding of classroom pedagogy
- Ability to create customized, engaging lesson plans using practical, real-world examples
- Desire to help students recognize, reach for, and realize their fullest potential
- Ability to make complex math approachable
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Mastery of SAT and ACT Math, especially Pre-Algebra, Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Statistics
