Job Description
Assistant MEP Site Manager supporting Gray Construction’s hyperscale data center projects. Coordinating MEP scheduling, subcontractors, procurement, safety, quality, and field execution.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with planning construction procedures based on specifications, start and completion times, and staffing requirements
- Assist the MEP Project Manager in locating and evaluating subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers
- Develop scopes of work for review and approval
- Assist with MEP project scheduling, estimates, cost-to-complete reports, monthly billings, and status reports
- Solicit subcontractor and vendor pricing and assist with bidder selection and final-price negotiations
- Draft subcontracts, purchase orders, changes, and change orders for review
- Review and coordinate current field drawings, including P&IDs, mechanical, electrical, shop, architectural, and structural drawings
- Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from pre-start-up through completion
- Schedule subcontractor work and determine needed materials, equipment, and tools
- Secure supply sources and procure tools and materials for scheduled delivery
- Set up and close out construction sites
- Serve as on-site Safety Officer when one is not assigned and participate in the company safety portion of the QMS program
- Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors in planning and executing work procedures and coordinating construction phases
- Resolve workforce complaints and grievances with supervisory personnel
- Prepare or review progress, materials, and cost reports and adjust schedules as needed
- Establish and maintain safety and quality standards
- Implement, maintain, and generate reports for Gray’s QMS program and continuous improvement
- Communicate, implement, and enforce Gray’s safety program on site
- Manage multiple subordinate team members, including training, work direction, discipline, complaints, and problem resolution
- Perform other assigned duties and work overtime when required
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; and a minimum five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 3+ years of industrial construction experience, with data center or mission-critical experience strongly preferred
- Ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex data center projects
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including power distribution, critical cooling infrastructure, commissioning processes, and equipment installation
- Understanding of construction scheduling and cost control
- Ability to effectively lead large field teams
- Experience working with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar construction technology is a plus
- Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications
- Must be able to travel to project sites throughout the United States and, in some cases, outside the U.S.
- Selected candidate can live anywhere in the USA
- Role is not eligible for visa sponsorship
- Must meet physical requirements, including frequent lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs
- Ability to work in varied outdoor, construction, mechanical, electrical, weather, noise, and elevated-risk conditions
- Ability to manage multiple subordinate team members and indirectly manage subcontractors, consultants, and general laborers
