Job Description
MEP Site Manager leading construction of critical mechanical and electrical systems for Gray Construction’s hyperscale data centers. Coordinating field teams, subcontractors, schedules, safety, quality, and procurement.
Responsibilities:
- Lead field operations for installation, coordination, and execution of critical MEP systems in mission-critical environments
- Assist the MEP Project Manager with subcontractor, vendor, and supplier evaluation and selection
- Develop scopes of work for MEP Project Manager review and approval
- Develop MEP project schedules within the overall construction schedule
- Prepare estimates for MEP self-performed work and assist with complete project estimates
- Coordinate and manage all trades throughout the construction process
- Negotiate final prices with qualified bidders
- Prepare cost-to-complete, monthly billing, status, progress, materials, and cost reports
- Review and maintain current architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, shop, and P&ID drawings
- Assist with pricing work, drafting changes, and change orders
- Coordinate and manage on-site construction activities from pre-start-up through completion
- Schedule subcontractor work and track productivity and installed quantities
- Determine and procure required materials, equipment, tools, and supply sources
- Set up and close out construction sites
- Serve as on-site Safety Officer when one is not assigned and participate in the QMS safety program
- Direct supervisory personnel and subcontractors to coordinate construction phases and prevent delays
- Resolve workforce complaints and grievances with supervisory personnel
- Establish and maintain safety and quality standards and enforce Gray’s safety program
- Use and maintain the company QMS program and generate continuous-improvement traceability reports
- Ensure customer satisfaction
- Lead subordinate supervisors and support staff as needed, including interviewing, hiring, training, work assignment, performance appraisal, discipline, and problem resolution
- Train newer team members
Requirements:
- Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and a minimum of ten (10) years of construction experience, OR a minimum 15 years related construction experience with increasing responsibility in lieu of a degree
- 5+ years of industrial construction experience; data center or mission-critical experience strongly preferred
- Ability to fulfill responsibilities for multiple, complex data center projects
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including power distribution, critical cooling infrastructure, commissioning processes, and equipment installation
- Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control
- Ability to effectively lead large field teams
- Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal/contract documents
- Strong people management skills
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, tablets, and smartphones
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar construction technology is a plus
- Strong work ethic; energetic, self-motivated, collaborative, and committed to professional development
- Ability to work independently and manage without detailed direction
- Not eligible for visa sponsorship
- Must be able to travel to project sites throughout the United States and occasionally outside the U.S.
- Must meet physical demands, including frequent lifting up to 25 lbs and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs
