Job Description

Merchant KYB Analyst investigating business ownership, sanctions, fraud, and reputational risk for Breeze’s universal fiat-and-crypto payment platform. Supporting compliant merchant onboarding and scalable risk operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct end-to-end KYB reviews for prospective merchants, ensuring onboarding documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant
  • Review and verify business registration documents, Articles of Incorporation, EIN and Tax ID documentation, proof of address, and supporting corporate records
  • Identify and verify Ultimate Beneficial Owners, including ownership structures, sanctions screening, OFAC, EU and UN watchlist screening, and PEP checks
  • Perform adverse media, reputation, and open-source investigations across businesses, founders, and key personnel
  • Review customer sentiment across Trustpilot, BBB, Reddit, Discord, X, and other public sources
  • Evaluate merchant business models for payment facilitation, nested merchants, undisclosed third-party fund movement, and prohibited activities
  • Review chargeback history, processor relationships, fraud indicators, and card network monitoring program participation
  • Cross-reference G2 Risk Solutions and other third-party intelligence platforms against internal findings and investigate discrepancies
  • Prepare case documentation and escalate complex or high-risk findings to Underwriting, Compliance, or Legal teams
  • Prepare and maintain monthly merchant reporting for partners including Worldpay and PPRO
  • Continuously improve KYB workflows, documentation standards, and operational processes

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in KYB, KYC, AML, merchant onboarding, payments compliance, fraud investigations, or financial crime
  • Experience in a fintech, payment processor, PSP, Merchant of Record, acquiring bank, or regulated financial services environment
  • Experience conducting business verification, UBO validation, sanctions screening, adverse media reviews, and enhanced due diligence
  • Investigative and research skills using corporate registries, public records, and open-source intelligence
  • Ability to review corporate filings, legal documents, bank statements, business websites, and financial records while identifying inconsistencies and risk signals
  • Strong understanding of merchant risk, payment flows, and fraud typologies across card payments and digital commerce
  • Ability to operate with incomplete information, exercise sound judgment, and escalate complex findings
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong written documentation and case management skills
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting findings to cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience reviewing high-risk merchant categories such as gaming, sweepstakes, digital goods, subscription businesses, or marketplaces is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with Visa and Mastercard merchant onboarding requirements, MCC classifications, and chargeback monitoring programs is a plus
  • Experience with Persona and G2 Risk Solutions is a plus
  • Startup or high-growth fintech experience is highly preferred
