Job Description
ELA interventionist supporting at-risk students through RTI remediation for Michigan Great Lakes Virtual Academy. Adapting curriculum, monitoring progress, and guiding teachers in its virtual school model.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the “At-Risk” student population to provide remediation supporting academic goals and increasing growth
- Modify and/or adapt the K12 curriculum in alignment with state content standards to meet each student’s unique needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers through individualized and small-group sessions
- Educate parents on instructional strategies
- Ensure implementation of the RTI instructional system to increase student achievement
- Oversee data collection and progress monitoring at every tier
- Use data to help teachers plan whole- and small-group instruction
- Guide teachers in identifying and grouping students needing additional help
- Collect and maintain RTI data, including eligible-student lists and intervention plans
- Serve as a daily RTI resource to school administrators, leadership teams, and stakeholders
- Coordinate and track Tier 2 interventions with homeroom teachers, advisors, counselors, and district personnel
- Provide ongoing RTI training and support to school and district staff
- Support teachers in documenting student progress
- Work with the special education team to facilitate special-education eligibility
- Travel for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school
Requirements:
- Michigan Teaching Certification Required
- Must have a Middle School ELA endorsement
- Must reside in Michigan
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
- Receptive to receiving coaching regularly with administrators and teacher trainers
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs and curriculum
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Experience working with proposed age group (desired)
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology (desired)
- Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environment (desired)
- Experience with online learning platforms (desired)
