Job Description
PhD studentship investigating mechanisms of reactions causing corrosion in CO2 streams. Developing methodologies for mitigation focusing on competitive oxidation in gas mixtures.
Responsibilities:
- investigate mechanisms of reactions that lead to corrosion
- develop methodologies to mitigate corrosion processes
- focus on competitive oxidation in mixtures of NOx, SOx, H2S, and CH3OH dissolved in CO2
- modelling work concentrated on reaction kinetics, thermodynamics, solvent effects
- analysis of experimental data
- possible experimental work depending on student interest
Requirements:
- good honours degree (minimum 2(i) honours or equivalent) or MSc/MRes in a relevant discipline
- good understanding of chemical kinetics
- some experience with computer algebra packages (Maple, Mathematica, Python)
- enthusiasm for the subject
