Job Description

Music and lyrics expert evaluating Japanese generative music AI for Mercor. Rating lyric quality, originality, prompt adherence, and naturalness across genres.

Responsibilities:

Evaluate generative music AI models in partnership with a leading AI lab
Compare AI-generated lyrics with published songs to identify similarities
Rate lyrics for quality, creativity, prompt adherence, and originality
Evaluate whether lyrics sound natural, including word choice, slang, and regional expressions
Work across a wide range of music genres
Receive onboarding details and complete project work independently on a flexible schedule

Requirements:

Native or near-native proficiency in Japanese
Ability to follow detailed written instructions in English
Experience as a songwriter, lyricist, performer, composer, or music journalist
Knowledge of the Japanese music scene
Headphones or studio monitors suitable for critical listening
Formal training in music performance, theory, or composition (nice to have)
Credited or published songwriting work (nice to have)
Broad familiarity with contemporary Japanese genres, sub-genres, and artists (nice to have)
Must complete the Bilingual Competency Interview in Japanese
Unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates
