Job Description
OEM Business Development Manager selling Merit Medical’s disposable medical devices to hospitals and clinical customers. Building accounts, demonstrating products, preparing pricing contracts, and driving sales growth across California.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain close relationships with new clients and existing accounts
- Meet regularly with clients and accounts to present and demonstrate Merit products and explain their benefits
- Identify potential customers and introduce them to Merit products
- Monitor client satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve it
- Prepare customized drawings for custom kits or manifolds
- Prepare and submit pricing contracts
- Follow up with clients to increase sales volume and profitability
- Resolve manufacturing or delivery problems with clients
- Coordinate with Merit marketing and sales staff on product shipments, new products, customer feedback, and innovations
- Make product-pricing decisions within approved authorization limits
- Prepare monthly reports on sales results, contacts, product needs, and procedural improvements
- Participate in sales training and planning meetings
- Maintain knowledge of Merit and competitor products
- Set and achieve sales performance goals
- Identify ways to increase market share, product quality, and customer satisfaction
- Travel by car, airplane, bus, and other means to perform sales duties with clients
- Perform other sales-related duties as required
Requirements:
- Education and experience equivalent to a related Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of three years of direct sales experience, preferably selling medical products
- Effective communication and ability to understand customer needs in a sales relationship
- High personal motivation and drive to achieve goals
- Excellent oral presentation skills
- Ability to think quickly, analyze problems, and explain answers to medical technicians and clinicians
- Ability to learn medical equipment usage and identify and explain possible usage improvements
- Ability to work effectively as a team member
- Ability to use business mathematics for percentages and financial and sales information
- Strong personal organization, including recording and reporting information and documenting work
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to travel extensively and work long hours as required
- Excellent driving record: no driving accidents in the past three years or no more than one driving ticket in the last three years
- Demonstrated computer skills, preferably spreadsheets, word processing, database, and other applicable software programs
- Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs., writing, sitting, standing, bending, vision, color perception, depth perception, reading, peripheral vision, and fine motor skills
