Job Description

Operations Support Engineer maintaining mission-critical IT systems for European institutions. Providing L2 support, observability, middleware operations and change management remotely within the EU.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure operational maintenance and continuity of the system after entry into operations
  • Provide second-level support by analysing and resolving incidents, problems and service requests within defined service levels
  • Perform corrective, adaptive, preventive and perfective maintenance
  • Monitor system health and performance through observability tools and respond proactively to alerts and events
  • Coordinate with DevSecOps Engineers on deployments, automation improvements and environment optimisation
  • Collaborate with Database Administrators, Architects and operational teams on system operation, configuration management and change control
  • Participate in change and release management, deployment readiness, rollback planning and validation testing
  • Contribute to post-incident reviews and root-cause analyses
  • Maintain operational documentation, runbooks and knowledge-base articles
  • Support knowledge transfer and handover activities
  • Provide operational support for middleware and integration components, including gateways, data transformation and messaging platforms, identity and access management systems, web servers and content management platforms

Requirements:

  • University degree in IT or a relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in IT
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in IT operations or application/system support
  • At least 2 years of second-level (L2) support for large-scale, mission-critical systems
  • Experience with ITIL-aligned frameworks and structured change and release-management processes
  • Excellent understanding of Incident, Problem, Change, Release, Event and Knowledge Management
  • Proficiency with IT service management tools such as ServiceNow
  • Experience with Linux/Unix environments, container orchestration platforms and observability stacks
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and configuration-management tools
  • Knowledge of application runtime environments, APIs, middleware and integration technologies
  • Knowledge of API management and gateway platforms, event streaming, message-oriented middleware, data transformation, identity and access management, web infrastructure, content-management platforms and mobile build/deployment pipelines
  • Knowledge of database performance monitoring, backup and recovery coordination
  • Familiarity with system hardening, patching and vulnerability remediation
  • Familiarity with middleware, integration, observability and automation tools
  • Excellent command of English
  • ITIL Foundation or higher, Linux administration, container-orchestration or equivalent certification is an asset
