Job Description

Pre-Certification Coordinator ensuring efficient processing of medical and surgical services at a leading university medical department. Engaging with insurance for verification and pre-certification tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs varied professional services to ensure medical/surgical and diagnostic/ancillary services are accomplished efficiently
  • Initiates and facilitates pre-determination process
  • Contacts insurance companies for benefit verification and pre-certification of procedures
  • Supplies documentation required during pre-certification process to insurance companies
  • Maintains daily surgery/procedure schedule for department faculty
  • Maintains communication with physicians regarding their schedules
  • Maintains written log of all pre-certifications in process
  • Notifies billing department of pre-certification
  • Documents when pre-certification is received from insurance companies
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent certification or combination of education and/or experience
  • 2 years of experience in Medical Office Setting
  • Communication skills

  • Managed Care experience
  • Medical Insurance Coding skills

  • Understanding of Third Party Payers
