Job Description

Principal Engineer managing high-voltage substation projects from conception through commissioning for Westinghouse's clean-energy staffing services. Providing technical oversight, compliance, and stakeholder coordination.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned substation projects from conception through construction and commissioning
  • Support engineering requirements and scope development with the Development Group during the conceptual phase
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to develop and secure substation sites and obtain engineering updates, data and permits
  • Provide training, due diligence and technical oversight of external engineers of record
  • Ensure project compliance with interconnection agreements, scope documents, specifications, site-specific requirements and industry standards
  • Coordinate with other groups to support successful E&C substation projects
  • Represent internal and external project interests in management meetings and present project progress, issues and risk mitigation
  • Support Transmission Services in reviewing interconnection documentation and ensuring ISO and Transmission Owner requirements are incorporated into project designs
  • Assist ISC with substation project SOW creation, review, approval and preparation of shopping carts for engineering services and materials
  • Report to the onsite Manager

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering is preferred
  • 7+ years' experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects is helpful
  • Project Engineering or Project Management experience with PMP or P.E. in related discipline is helpful
  • Knowledge of IEEE, NESC, ASCE and other applicable industry codes and standards
  • Experience with generation interconnection agreements, project specifications and site-specific design requirements
  • Experience reviewing system impact studies, facility studies, reactive and harmonic studies, and interconnection agreements
  • Ability to travel within North America
  • Must meet applicable United States and comparable foreign export control requirements
