Job Description
Principal Platform Engineer designing and supporting ServiceNow technology solutions for Fifth Third Bank. Owning vendor platforms, improving operational excellence, and partnering with agile product teams.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, design and implement technology solutions supporting technology strategies for a line of business
- Serve as application owner for third-party purchased software aligned with a line of business
- Liaise with software vendors and understand upcoming software changes and enhancements
- Assess how vendor changes affect the business and design effective implementation solutions
- Understand and maintain alignment with the bank’s technology roadmap
- Recommend continued utilization or elimination of third-party software solutions
- Collaborate with product owners on clear, specific user stories for agile development
- Implement and maintain new features and capabilities
- Improve the quality of technical products and services
- Follow and communicate industry and organizational best practices and standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Automate processes and create maintainable, supportable and testable solutions
- Monitor technology trends and innovations
- Provide operational support and troubleshooting
- Coach, mentor and train less experienced team members
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology field or equivalent combination of education and work experience
- 8+ years of engineering or other IT work experience relevant to the position
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Willingness to work in a highly-collaborative environment
- Solid understanding and significant experience with modern software development practices, tools, and/or hardware technologies
- Solid understanding of IT security best practices
- Expertise in one or more technical and/or functional domains relevant to the position
- Experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex technical solutions
- Technical skills per the specific position’s requirements
