Job Description

Purchasing Agent coordinating doors, frames, and hardware procurement for construction projects. Analyzing vendor bids, managing orders, shipments, pricing, and detailer support.

Responsibilities:

  • Purchase materials and coordinate procurement of goods and services for project bidding and execution
  • Request bids and analyze vendor pricing and capacity against budget and project requirements
  • Negotiate vendor pricing when necessary
  • Present purchasing recommendations to project teams
  • Prepare contracts for work
  • Provide special pricing and procurement support to detailing teams
  • Track quotes, escalations, vendor pricing, order acknowledgments, shipments, backorders, and replacement orders
  • Meet with manufacturer and wholesaler representatives and maintain relationships
  • Manage and update buy programs and price books in Comsense
  • Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules
  • Prepare purchase orders and special instructions for manufacturers
  • Verify order acknowledgment accuracy and update detailers
  • Coordinate warehouse, logistics, detailer, and manufacturer activities to ensure orders are complete and shipped on time
  • Troubleshoot Contract Information Requests, shortages, and breakage items with the warehouse
  • Coordinate return goods authorizations and call tags for incorrect or damaged materials
  • Quote and coordinate LTL shipments from warehouse/logistics to job sites
  • Check product compatibility between manufacturers and series
  • Maintain stock-item inventory in Comsense
  • Locate templates and answer general product questions or contact manufacturer customer service/technical support
  • Execute Keying Summary Sheets in coordination with detailers
  • Quote and order noncontract miscellaneous material on sales orders
  • Drive the project team through the purchasing process and work on medium-sized projects
  • Assist in developing and mentoring Level 1 employees; may have direct reports

Requirements:

  • 4–7 years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (preferred)
  • Intermediate knowledge of Doors, Frames and Hardware software: Comsense, Protech Titan, Avaware, eMullion+TOAD
  • Intermediate knowledge of Doors, Frames and Hardware products, services, processes and projects
  • Proficient in PDF editing applications (Bluebeam/Adobe)
  • Ability to navigate and mitigate risk and communicate strategies to the team
  • Ability to lead an assignment or special project from start to finish
  • Ability to make decisions independently depending on complexity
  • Ability to function autonomously most of the time
  • Ability to think strategically, critically, and analytically
  • Ability to initiate and maintain relationships with key staff and other departments
  • Ability to assist in development and mentoring of Level 1 employees; may have direct reports
  • Customer service skills, including ownership, follow-up, accountability, listening, clarifying questions, and positive attitude
