Job Description
Scheduling Specialist coordinating inpatient and outpatient procedures for Virtua Health, a South Jersey healthcare system. Managing patient records, admissions, communications, and surgical scheduling remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule inpatient or outpatient procedures
- Inform patients and physician offices of preparation instructions and other test requirements
- Correctly identify patients and match medical records
- Facilitate hospital care
- Organize patient flow throughout the department by accurately inputting surgical procedures, preference cards, and orders
- Coordinate the admission process and scheduling of surgical procedures
- Alert facilitators to current or potential problems and assist with resolution
- Handle high-volume incoming and outgoing unit communications while providing excellent customer service
- Maintain medical records and statistical reports
- Enter data into multiple databases and run required reports
- Maintain office supplies and equipment
- Assist in orienting new staff on scheduling and data collection processes
- Assist with unit coverage as needed
Requirements:
- Previous medical clerical experience
- Understanding of medical terminology
- Computer user proficiency in data entry
- Clear communication skills
- Professional phone demeanor
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Ability to work full time, 40 hours weekly, on first shift
