Job Description
Security Engineer detecting, investigating, and responding to threats across Primer's global payments infrastructure. Building Elastic, AWS, Python, and Terraform security operations automation.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver detection and response work end-to-end
- Build, tune and maintain detections across Elastic SIEM and AWS
- Own an investigation queue: triage, investigate, escalate and resolve security incidents
- Write clear incident findings
- Build runbooks and automations using Python, Zapier or Tines
- Make and document risk decisions and escalate when appropriate
- Support the compliance programme by keeping owned controls audit-ready and contributing evidence for SOC 2 and PCI DSS audits
- Use Terraform and Python to build and maintain detection and tooling infrastructure
- Participate in the on-call rotation for incident response and monitoring
Requirements:
- Hands-on experience building and tuning detections in a SIEM (Elastic preferred; Splunk, Sentinel or similar also welcome)
- Experience with AWS and cloud-native detection and response
- Comfortable with Python for scripting and automation
- Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code
- Working knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK
- Real experience triaging, investigating and resolving security incidents
- Clear, structured written communication
- Experience with no-code security automation / SOAR-style tooling (nice to have)
- Exposure to compliance frameworks like PCI DSS, SOC 2 or ISO 27001 (nice to have)
- Background in fintech, payments or another regulated industry (nice to have)
- Applicants must have working rights in the country where they will be based
- Currently hiring only in the UK, South Africa, Romania, Portugal, Poland, Ireland or Hungary
