Job Description

SEN Caseworker managing statutory EHCP assessments, annual reviews, and tribunal casework for Hampshire County Council’s SEND Service. Fully remote role serving children and young adults aged 0–25.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee statutory EHC assessments for individuals aged 0-25
  • Handle intricate SEND caseloads and adhere to statutory deadlines
  • Serve as the primary contact for parents, carers, schools, and professionals
  • Draft, revise, and maintain Education, Health, and Care Plans
  • Coordinate input from education, health, and social care experts
  • Conduct Annual Reviews and make necessary EHCP amendments
  • Prepare documentation and evidence for SEND Tribunals
  • Participate in case discussions, meetings, and reviews as needed
  • Manage correspondence with professionalism and sensitivity
  • Keep precise case records and update Hampshire systems
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases when necessary
  • Collaborate with Special Needs Officers and SEND Managers to ensure compliance and uphold quality standards
  • Consistently meet statutory timescales
  • Produce high-quality, legally compliant EHCPs
  • Apply professional judgment effectively
  • Escalate risks and concerns promptly
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to families and stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation
  • Collaborate effectively with schools, SENCOs, health professionals, and partner agencies
  • Manage workload efficiently within a high-volume statutory service
  • Adhere to Hampshire County Council policies, procedures, and governance frameworks

Requirements:

  • At least 12 months of experience in a similar SEN Caseworker/EHCP Caseworker role within a Local Authority SEND Team
  • Proven ability to manage caseloads exceeding 250 cases
  • Experience in coordinating 20-week EHC Needs Assessments from initiation to completion
  • Proficiency in completing Annual Reviews
  • Experience in preparing and managing SEND Tribunal packs and tribunal casework
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Children and Families Act 2014
  • Comprehensive understanding of the SEND Code of Practice
  • Comprehensive understanding of EHCP statutory processes
  • Comprehensive understanding of SEND Tribunal procedures
  • Ability to articulate previous caseloads, statutory responsibilities, and SEND processes during interviews
  • Relevant SEND, Education, or professional qualification
  • DFE Form confirming a minimum of 2 years PQE
  • Enhanced DBS
  • Right to Work documentation
