Job Description
Senior Cloud Data Engineer building secure cloud data systems for BMC. Designing pipelines, data warehouses, ETL processes, and cloud-based data solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design and manage cloud-based systems on behalf of BMC
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify appropriate solutions and implement system modifications
- Design, implement, and manage cloud-based data solutions, including movement of data between on-premises and cloud environments
- Optimize data storage and ensure data security and compliance
- Build data pipelines and scalable data processing systems in cloud environments
- Design, construct, and test data lakes, data warehouses, data lake houses, and databases
- Design and implement data pipelines using cloud-native tools and services
- Develop ETL processes for data ingestion and transformation
- Write and optimize SQL and Python queries for data retrieval and analysis
- Optimize data workflows to improve performance and efficiency
- Collaborate with leadership, analysts, Research, and cross-functional teams to define data requirements and reporting needs
- Implement data solutions aligned with business and technical requirements
- Apply data governance, access controls, security, and compliance standards
- Provide system troubleshooting and support
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of Five (5) or more years of experience in data engineering or related roles, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Preferred Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Preferred Epic Clarity and Caboodle Data Models, Microsoft Fabric, or Amazon S3 and Redshift
- Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Knowledge of data warehousing and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)
- Understanding of data modeling and database design principles
- Ability to design and document end-to-end processes, including steps, dependencies, systems of record, and roles of involved parties
- Strong analytical, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to interact across all levels of the organization
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent proofreading and editing skills
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, or Java
