Job Description
Senior DevOps Engineer operating and automating Bitsight’s SaaS cloud infrastructure. Leveraging AI, Kubernetes, Terraform, and observability to improve secure, reliable cyber risk software delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Operate, scale, and troubleshoot Bitsight’s SaaS cloud infrastructure
- Focus infrastructure operations on reliability, efficiency, and security
- Provide occasional off-shift availability for production issues or maintenance
- Design and solve complex system-level problems affecting multiple components
- Anticipate localized performance and scalability issues
- Pioneer self-optimizing infrastructure systems and leverage AI to accelerate feature delivery
- Validate AI-assisted infrastructure automation manually and in staging before production deployment
- Manage the costs and ROI of AI-driven systems
- Break down complex problems into optimized parallel work streams
- Propose creative solutions and lead design-level discussions
- Provide technical advice impacting multiple teams
- Drive organizational infrastructure best practices
- Advocate for high-quality documentation
- Mentor early-stage senior engineers on system design
- Collaborate within the Platform Engineering function and broader engineering team to streamline and automate development and operations processes
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a DevOps/Operations engineer in a SaaS environment
- Extensive experience with Linux systems; Ubuntu/Debian/CentOS preferred
- General automation scripting with Bash/Python
- Deep experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with major cloud providers such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure
- Strong expertise with infrastructure-as-code principles and tools such as Terraform
- Fluency in leveraging AI tools to accelerate infrastructure delivery
- Understanding of safely validating, governing, and measuring the ROI of AI-assisted automation
- Ability to understand the customer's "job to be done" and gather empirical data for decision-making
- Bias for action, accountability, and proactive communication of project status, risks, and milestones
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitLab preferred
- Configuration Management experience with Chef and Ansible preferred
- Experience with observability, monitoring, and logging stacks such as Prometheus, Grafana, JSM, Datadog, SumoLogic, ELK, and Groundcover preferred
- Strong understanding of network engineering and security principles, including Internet protocols, firewalls, and routing
