Job Description
Senior DevOps Engineer operating CI/CD pipelines, Docker Swarm and cloud VPS deployments for Stellar Telecommunications’ STEER® connectivity software suite. Managing releases, observability and secrets across lab, dev and production environments.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI or equivalent
- Administer GitLab and related CI/CD and collaboration tooling, including updates, runners, access and maintenance
- Manage STEER® software releases across lab, dev and production environments, including rollouts, rollbacks and release documentation
- Manage the Docker Swarm cluster running application workloads, including the multi-service STEER Management stack
- Use Ansible to provision and configure operating systems and applications as infrastructure-as-code
- Administer application-level configuration, patching and lifecycle inside VMs
- Administer, harden, patch and configure guest operating systems and applications on production cloud VPS
- Deploy and operate STEER® releases on cloud VPS using the lab/dev/prod promotion process
- Coordinate on VPS network and security perimeter matters, including firewall rules, security groups, VPN and remote access
- Implement and maintain application-level monitoring and logging
- Define alerting and dashboards for deployment health, service performance and release quality
- Set up and operate secrets management for pipelines and deployments
- Partner with software engineers, product and operations teams on deployment practices
- Maintain documentation for pipelines, deployment procedures and release runbooks
- Share DevOps best practices across the engineering organization
Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a DevOps role
- Strong Linux administration skills (Debian a plus)
- Production experience with Docker
- Hands-on experience with Ansible or equivalent configuration management / IaC tooling
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI or equivalent)
- Scripting proficiency in Python and Shell
- Experience managing software releases across lab, dev, staging and production environments
- Experience with secrets management for CI/CD and production deployments
- Familiarity with private cloud and VPS environments
- Familiarity with major public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Agile mindset and comfort working closely with an Infrastructure & Network Engineer on shared platform dependencies
- Professional proficiency in English
- Experience with embedded or constrained Linux environments (e.g. OpenWrt) relevant to edge deployments
- Experience with application-level observability tooling (e.g. Prometheus or Grafana)
- Prior experience in telecommunications, satellite or mobility connectivity products is preferred
- French is a plus
