Job Description
Senior Director of Major Gifts leading fundraising efforts for Cleveland Clinic. Overseeing a team and developing strategies to secure philanthropic support.
Responsibilities:
- Secure philanthropic gifts through a process of identifying, qualifying, strategizing, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift prospects.
- Manage a team of development professionals, volunteers, Leadership Board members and administrative activities.
- Set vision and implementation strategies for the generation of philanthropic funds for Cleveland Clinic priorities.
- Promote collaboration between staff.
- Provide leadership for the effective and efficient operation of assigned responsibility.
- Achieve significant dollar goals; lead the success of campaigns for capital, programmatic, research, endowment and operating support for Cleveland Clinic.
- Lead overall management of the area and supervise assigned employees.
- Establish a program of personal visits with past, current and prospective donors, as appropriate.
- Ensure that donors are properly advised as to the financial options available, projects and needs.
- Develop funding proposals.
- Act as a leader that is ultimately accountable for complete transfer of funds, property, etc. to Cleveland Clinic.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Ten years of progressively responsible experience in fund raising, direct solicitation and capital campaign environment, including management experience
- Demonstrated success and experience in fund raising strategies for donor cultivation and direct solicitation
- Strong leadership and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage a diverse central service team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
