Job Description

Electrical and Controls Engineer ensuring NEC and UL508A compliance for Güntner’s refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment. Leading control-system projects, industrial communications, and cross-functional factory collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, specify, and implement electrical systems for products with design engineers, following NEC code and industry best practices
  • Review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts for new projects and system upgrades
  • Lead technical review sessions for project alignment and safety standards
  • Serve as NEC code representative for the US market
  • Review designs for UL508A compliance and support UL certification processes for electrical panels and equipment
  • Prioritize safety, efficiency, and reliability of electrical systems
  • Manage multiple electrical engineering projects, keeping them on schedule and within budget
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, factory, and cross-functional teams for successful project execution
  • Prepare technical reports, project updates, and project completion documentation
  • Design and implement electrical control systems integrating PLCs, HMIs, and automation components
  • Support integration and debugging of Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and other industrial communication protocols
  • Troubleshoot and optimize control systems to improve performance and reduce downtime
  • Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance, training, and professional development support
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, project managers, and other cross-functional team members
  • Represent the company in client and industry partner meetings as a subject matter expert
  • Stay current on electrical engineering advancements, NEC updates, and industry trends
  • Suggest improvements to systems and processes for efficiency, safety, and compliance
  • Lead collaboration between global and local strategy teams, Mexico factory and other global factories, and Europe

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification required, indicating passing of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; FE and fewer years of experience will be considered with agreement that the PE must be obtained
  • 4+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on NEC code, project management, and system design
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NEC, UL508A, and related standards
  • Familiarity with industrial and building control protocols, including Modbus and BACnet
  • Strong project management skills with proven success managing concurrent projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present technical information clearly
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  • Preferred: 7+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on NEC code, project management, and system design
  • Preferred proficiency in Modbus, BACnet, and Ethernet/IP
  • Preferred experience with power quality analysis, power factor correction, and harmonic distortion
  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Azure products and tools, including databases, IoT, and AI
  • Preferred experience with MQTT, API, and webhook networking protocols
  • Preferred experience with data analytics and data-driven development
  • Ability to undertake periodic international travel to factories and occasional travel for important client or internal meetings
