Job Description

Senior Financial Analyst driving FP&A, forecasting, and executive reporting for Upstart’s AI lending marketplace. Supporting financial decisions across its Unsecured Lending organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Support short- and long-term financial planning, forecasting, and budget management for the Unsecured Lending organization
  • Develop executive-ready insights and commentary for recurring forecast and business reviews, month-end close, and annual planning
  • Analyze financial and operational performance, identify emerging trends and risks, and conduct root-cause analysis when results differ from expectations
  • Provide visibility into key operating-expense drivers and tradeoffs in partnership with department leads
  • Improve financial reporting, systems/tooling, and analytical infrastructure for accurate and scalable decision-making
  • Partner across FP&A, Accounting, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure accurate forecasting, reporting, and transparency
  • Build reliable financial models, translate business and financial results into actionable insights, and support informed decision-making

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of relevant FP&A experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including complex financial modeling
  • Experience analyzing large data sets and translating financial and business drivers into recommendations
  • Experience developing financial forecasts, budgets, variance analyses, and financial or operational performance reporting
  • Ability to learn quickly, work independently, manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines, and operate in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of financial planning and accounting systems such as Adaptive Planning, NetSuite, or similar platforms
  • Experience with BI tools such as Looker, Tableau, or Mode
  • Familiarity with SQL or willingness to learn
  • Experience in fintech, lending, consumer finance, subscriptions, or technology-enabled marketplaces
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and collaborate effectively across functions and levels
