Job Description
Full-stack engineer building Circle’s curated marketplace for communities, courses, and memberships. Developing scalable Rails, React, and Next.js purchasing and discovery experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Build polished, high-converting purchasing experiences for discovering digital experiences and selling digital memberships, courses, and content at scale
- Build and maintain applications with a Ruby on Rails backend and React and Next.js front-ends
- Implement Next.js best practices, including SSR/SSG, routing, and performance optimization
- Improve the quality of the codebase, processes, and architecture
- Collaborate with Circle leaders throughout feature design
- Work with designers to create a world-class user experience
- Prioritize speed of iteration while maintaining code and user-experience quality
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer on complex, large-scale web applications
- Experience with applications at significant scale, including 100k+ rpm and 100GB+ databases
- Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails, MySQL/PostgreSQL, ReactJS, TypeScript, Next.js, and Tailwind
- Frontend and backend experience
- Effective written and verbal/oral communication skills in English
- Experience working on a fully distributed remote team
- Proficiency in English at CEFR Level C2 / ILR Level 5
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with personal accountability
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and learning new technologies

- Bonus: experience with creator platforms, social content and video feeds, or marketplaces
- Bonus: experience with A/B testing and experimentation
- Bonus: exposure to search, recommendation, and personalization at scale
- Bonus: production experience with Next.js and hybrid React/Next.js systems for high-traffic applications
