  • Build and run data, screening tools, and analyses to assess grid capacity, costs, timelines, and operating limits
  • Screen and prioritize viable points of interconnection and advise on project interconnection viability
  • Secure queue positions and advance applications through utility engagement and the interconnection process
  • Run screening-level power-flow and hosting-capacity analyses on distribution and sub-transmission networks
  • Scope and manage utility or consultant studies
  • Analyze hosting-capacity data, queue data, utility filings, study results, and market dynamics to identify suitable development regions

Requirements:

  • 4–6 years’ experience in interconnection, distribution or transmission planning, or grid analytics for solar and/or BESS, including hands-on management of interconnection applications through study and agreement stages
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering (power systems preferred), Energy Systems, or a related quantitative field
  • PE, P.Eng., or EIT is a plus
  • Strong analytical and technical competence combined with commercial acumen

  • Working knowledge of PJM and MISO interconnection processes under FERC rules
  • Experience with investor-owned utilities, cooperatives, municipal utilities, ISOs, RTOs, and public utility commissions in the United States preferred
  • Experience working closely with engineers and technical teams and understanding of technical requirements and project development cycle
  • Experience with BESS interconnection and utility-scale interconnection processes
  • Understanding of hosting-capacity methods, cluster studies, flexible interconnection, curtailment, and generation shifting
  • Thorough understanding of technical considerations and electrical theory
  • Proficiency with grid modeling and simulation tools such as CYME, Synergi, OpenDSS, PSS/E, PowerFactory, or similar
  • Python and/or SQL and advanced Excel required
  • Familiarity with Power BI or similar is a plus
  • Exposure to financial models for PV and BESS is a plus
  • Experience with utility interconnection portals, hosting-capacity maps, and GIS data in QGIS or ArcGIS
