Job Description

Senior Innovation Analyst leading cross-functional innovation projects for Hanover Insurance. Assessing emerging technologies, market trends, competitors, and Insurtech opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead execution of innovation projects and realize expected outcomes and learning through cross-functional teams
  • Monitor project status and apply project-management best practices to manage resources and scope
  • Communicate major milestones, identify and manage project risks, develop mitigation strategies and contingency plans, and provide direction to project teams
  • Conduct regular status meetings with key stakeholders
  • Conduct market intelligence to identify trends, opportunities, competitive advantages, and threats
  • Secure cross-functional and cross-divisional stakeholder alignment and engagement
  • Surface business challenges and dependencies and implement solutions
  • Establish a market-sensitive research agenda for critical operational topics and functions
  • Conduct vendor briefings, web surveys, and end-user interviews to collect primary market intelligence
  • Track technology changes and industry trends and assess their impact on processes
  • Build relationships with external organizations and end-user partners
  • Collect and analyze market and competitor intelligence from internal and external sources
  • Assess emerging technologies including artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, and Insurtech solutions
  • Facilitate innovation workshops, design-thinking sessions, and experimentation activities to identify, prototype, and validate opportunities

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 4-8 years of experience conducting and executing business and/or IT projects using structured methodologies such as agile
  • Prior Property and Casualty insurance preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, including storytelling, writing, and presenting
  • Ability to understand “the big picture”
  • Creativity and innovation
  • Ability to communicate concepts, ideas, feelings, opinions, and conclusions so others understand or are persuaded to act
  • Collaboration skills and ability to obtain shared commitment

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, data visualization tools such as Power BI, collaboration technologies, and emerging AI-enabled productivity tools
  • Expert understanding of market research techniques and methodologies in data collection desired
