Job Description

Senior MDM manager overseeing trusted master data for Blood Cancer United, a blood-cancer advocacy organization. Leading data quality, stewardship, integration, and one junior staff member.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the master data lifecycle for core domains including patients/constituents, member organizations, employees, programs, and partner entities
  • Define and maintain golden record standards, field-level merge rules, and survivorship rules
  • Design and enforce entity matching logic to identify, link, and consolidate duplicate or related records
  • Build and maintain a master data registry or reference catalog
  • Advise on hierarchies, parent-child relationships, and organizational affiliations
  • Design and execute recurring data quality assessments
  • Assist with deduplication, data cleansing, bulk remediation, and exception management
  • Build automated or semi-automated data quality checks using SQL, Python, Power Query, or native platform tooling
  • Triage, prioritize, and resolve master data issues
  • Track and report data quality metrics, trends, and remediation progress to the Director, Data Governance
  • Partner with Systems Development Administrators to propagate master data across CRM, marketing, and analytics platforms
  • Identify and resolve data fragmentation and inconsistency across systems
  • Maintain cross-system mapping documentation
  • Support data migration and system implementation projects with validated, cleansed, standardized master data
  • Develop standardization rules for names, addresses, organization types, and structured fields
  • Lead match/merge rule development, reviews, approvals, and oversight
  • Define data stewardship workflows and support steward assignments
  • Provide escalation support and technical guidance to data stewards
  • Develop and deliver training and job aids for non-technical stewards
  • Facilitate recurring steward working sessions
  • Create and maintain matching rule, survivorship, domain model, entity resolution, business rule, data lineage, and data governance documentation
  • Supervise one junior-level MDM staff member through task direction, coaching, feedback, performance evaluations, professional development, onboarding, and capacity planning

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in master data management, data quality, or enterprise data management
  • 2+ years of people management experience, including direct supervision, performance management, and professional development of at least one staff member
  • Hands-on experience managing at least two master data domains in a multi-system environment
  • Deep proficiency with deterministic and probabilistic matching, survivorship rules, and golden record construction
  • Strong SQL skills
  • Experience using at least one data integration or ETL tool
  • Familiarity with CRM or ERP platforms and native data management capabilities
  • Ability to translate complex MDM concepts into clear documentation and practical guidance
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver MDM initiatives in a resource-constrained environment without dedicated MDM platform software
  • Hands-on experience using and administering a dedicated MDM platform; Reltio or comparable enterprise MDM system required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted
  • Experience with nonprofit CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge NXT, or Microsoft Dynamics 365
  • Exposure to Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar cloud data platforms
  • Experience with Python for data profiling, standardization, or matching automation
  • Knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK MDM knowledge area or equivalent data management framework
  • Experience in or strong familiarity with the life sciences nonprofit sector is a strong plus
