Job Description
Senior Manager Software Engineering, Data at Credit Acceptance leading data engineering teams and enhancing data platforms. Ensuring alignment between business priorities and technical solutions through effective leadership.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of data engineers, providing clear direction, feedback, and career growth opportunities
- Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous learning
- Drive strong engagement through effective 1:1s, performance management, and team development planning
- Own the successful delivery of end-to-end data pipelines and platform capabilities across batch and streaming architectures
- Ensure high standards for data quality, scalability, reliability, and observability
- Partner with Product, Analytics, and Business teams to ensure delivery aligns with business needs
- Provide architectural guidance and technical direction across the data domain
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, best practices, and design principles
- Champion coding standards, testing practices, and CI/CD adoption to ensure high-quality, production-grade systems
- Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders within the data domain
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience
- 6+ years of software engineering experience, with strong expertise in data platforms and systems
- 6+ years of people leadership experience managing engineering teams
- Strong background in: Data Lake and Lakehouse architectures
- Data engineering and pipeline development (batch and streaming)
- Programming (Python, SQL, PySpark) and data modeling
- Cloud data platforms and distributed systems
- Experience delivering enterprise-scale data solutions
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in Agile environments
