Job Description

Senior Platform Development Engineer scaling Best Buy Canada's self-service cloud platforms. Automating infrastructure, CI/CD, Kubernetes operations, reliability, and developer workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement scalable self-service capabilities across engineering platforms
  • Improve developer experience by simplifying onboarding, deployment, and operational workflows
  • Translate architectural designs into production-grade implementations
  • Drive platform reliability, security, and performance improvements aligned with industry best practices
  • Maintain platforms using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management
  • Collaborate with Tech Leads, developers, and operations teams to meet evolving business needs
  • Participate in support rotation, including occasional after-hours response, to maintain platform stability
  • Maintain clear technical documentation for knowledge sharing and platform adoption
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, raising overall engineering standards

Requirements:

  • 5+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure automation
  • 3+ years with cloud providers, Azure preferred
  • 2+ years building and managing platforms using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.) and container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker)
  • Experience managing CI/CD platforms and tools including GitHub, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Jenkins, ACR, Artifactory, and Packer
  • Experience supporting Kubernetes or cloud-native applications, including microservices and containers
  • Strong expertise in cloud identity, networking, and security, such as Entra ID
  • Strong scripting and automation skills in Python, Bash, PowerShell, HCL, etc.
  • Deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, and cloud-native operations
  • Solid grasp of platform reliability, observability, and operational excellence principles
  • Bachelor’s in CS, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
