Job Description

Senior analyst shaping Life & Retirement products at Horace Mann, an insurer serving educators. Delivering competitive intelligence, market analysis, and illustration systems expertise.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and oversee competitive analysis and industry product analytics to identify market trends and support product decisions
  • Provide insights informing Life & Retirement product strategy, positioning, and ongoing product management
  • Partner with internal stakeholders on product initiatives and provide product expertise throughout planning and execution
  • Coordinate monthly competitive benchmarking for life and annuity crediting rates, maintain competitor benchmarking, track market rate actions, prepare competitive reports, and summarize marketplace developments for executive leadership
  • Lead development and maintenance of competitive intelligence reports, benchmarking tools, and industry product analytics
  • Research competitor products and identify opportunities for product enhancements, new product concepts, and strategic differentiation
  • Facilitate cross-functional discussions with Product Strategy, Actuarial, Marketing, Distribution, Operations, Information Technology, and other stakeholders
  • Gather business requirements, document decisions, and ensure alignment on product features and functionality
  • Provide support and oversight for illustration modifications and enhancements
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on assigned product strategy and product management initiatives
  • Identify and implement improvements to competitive intelligence capabilities, product analytics, product development processes, and illustration system functionality
  • Share expertise and best practices across the Product Management team

Requirements:

  • H.S. diploma or GED equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years of demonstrated experience in Life and/or Retirement product management, competitive intelligence, or product strategy
  • Strong understanding of Life & Retirement products and related regulatory requirements
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple complex priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across business functions
  • Experience with 3rd party competitive intelligence tools and data sources preferred
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization preferred
  • Experience with life and retirement illustration/quoting platforms preferred
  • Familiarity with state and Compact product filings preferred
