Job Description
Senior Product Owner owning backlogs and Agile delivery for Verisma’s healthcare care coordination products. Translating roadmap initiatives into user stories, releases, and launch-ready software.
Responsibilities:
- Own, refine, and prioritize the Care Coordination Services product backlog
- Write user stories and acceptance criteria, and accept completed work
- Serve as the primary engineering contact for requirements questions during sprints
- Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Translate roadmap initiatives, including Forms and Referral Management, into release plans, epics, features, and stories
- Make sprint-level prioritization and trade-off decisions; escalate roadmap-level decisions to the Product Manager
- Partner with Product Management on discovery, customer feedback, user interviews, validation sessions, and release readiness
- Partner with engineering and QA to triage defects, clarify edge cases, and resolve ambiguity
- Coordinate with UX/design on flows and mockups
- Maintain PRDs, user stories, release notes, training materials, and post-launch updates
- Support UAT coordination, customer pilots, and internal enablement of sales, implementation, and customer success teams
- Track and report velocity, throughput, defect rates, and scope changes; surface risks
- Review customer feedback, support tickets, and field input and route relevant signals to Product Management
- Connect product, engineering, QA, design, customer success, and implementation teams
- Leverage AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot for product operations, documentation, feedback analysis, and backlog grooming
- Perform other assigned duties and promote Verisma Core Values
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or similar role on a software product team
- Demonstrated experience owning a product backlog in an Agile/Scrum environment, writing user stories, defining acceptance criteria, and partnering with engineering through delivery
- 2+ years of experience in healthcare technology, with preference for Care Coordination, Health Information Management, Release of Information, EHR/EMR, referral management, clinical workflow, or related domains
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, Jira, or equivalent backlog and project tooling
- Competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong analytical skills and ability to use data to inform prioritization
- Ability to collaborate with engineers, designers, QA, and product managers
- Ability to extract requirements and translate them into clear, testable stories
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills and strong documentation discipline
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, including 0-to-1 product builds
- Ability to work independently while taking direction from Product Management
- Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time
- Certified Scrum Product Owner, SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager, or equivalent certification preferred
- Familiarity with U.S. healthcare provider environments, HIPAA, FHIR, and HL7 preferred
- Experience supporting 0-to-1 product builds, referral management, intake/forms automation, care coordination workflows, or AI/ML-enabled product features preferred
