Job Description
Senior Programmer Analyst modernizing Doctors of BC’s healthcare business applications. Migrating legacy systems to Salesforce, NetSuite, Snowflake and other cloud platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, maintain and enhance enterprise applications, services, integrations and databases
- Maintain and support Progress/OpenEdge applications while reducing dependency on the legacy platform
- Analyze application functionality, code, business rules, integrations and data structures for modernization and migration initiatives
- Design and execute migrations of business processes, data and functionality to Salesforce, NetSuite, Snowflake and other enterprise platforms
- Develop and maintain APIs, integration services, automation and data-processing solutions
- Perform data extraction, transformation, migration, validation and reconciliation
- Troubleshoot complex application, database and integration issues and perform root-cause analysis
- Collaborate with technical specialists, business stakeholders, Data Management, application teams and external vendors
- Produce and maintain technical designs, documentation, interface specifications, data models, code documentation and operational support procedures
- Participate in requirements, technical design, development, code review, testing, deployment and production support throughout the SDLC
- Support source-control, environment-management and release-management practices
- Mentor technical resources and contribute to knowledge transfer and development standards
- Identify opportunities to replace custom legacy functionality with reusable enterprise capabilities
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of senior application development experience in complex enterprise environments
- Strong programming and software-development capabilities
- Strong experience with relational databases, SQL, data modelling and data integration
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, web services and modern integration patterns
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, testing, deployment and production support
- Experience in modernizing, integrating or migrating legacy enterprise applications
- Ability to understand complex existing code, databases and business rules and translate them into modern solutions
- Experience with source control, release management and development environment management
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis capabilities
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary technical and business teams
- Experience with Progress OpenEdge ABL/4GL and OpenEdge Database is an asset
- Experience with C#, .NET/.NET Core or comparable modern enterprise development technologies is an asset
- Experience migrating applications or data from Progress OpenEdge or similar legacy platforms is an asset
- Experience with Salesforce, NetSuite or other enterprise CRM/ERP platforms is an asset
- Experience integrating applications with Snowflake or other cloud data platforms is an asset
- Experience with ETL/ELT, Change Data Capture (CDC) or enterprise data-migration technologies is an asset
- Experience with PowerShell or comparable automation/scripting technologies is an asset
- Experience developing or supporting applications used for benefits, insurance, membership administration or financial processing is an asset
- Experience working with third-party implementation partners and technology vendors is an asset
