Job Description
Senior Public Health Educator developing evidence-based health education tools and implementation strategies. Supporting Defense Health Agency initiatives that improve Military Health System clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) Implementation Science Program to reduce the gap between research and clinical practice
- Plan and develop evidence-based educational and data-related tools and materials in audio-visual, print, computer-aided, computer-based, or Web-based formats
- Develop educational and training materials, including curricula for in-person or Web-based sessions and workshops
- Conduct training sessions and workshops in person or online
- Support accredited continuing education, creative or scientific writing, language translations, and adaptation of materials for special populations
- Identify concepts for messages, materials, or tools through formative, primary, and secondary research
- Execute dissemination strategies including outreach, partnership development, marketing and promotion, technical assistance, and educating or training target audiences
- Support media outreach, learning networks, technical assistance, and one-on-one academic detailing
- Support development and execution of an Implementation Plan promoting adoption of knowledge solutions and associated behavioral and clinical changes
- Assess concepts and materials through focus groups, testing, expert review, field tests, or pilot tests in compliance with the Paperwork Reduction Act
- Assess progress and impact of implementation science activities and develop, gather, and analyze data and metrics
- Incorporate audience feedback, lessons learned, and assessment results for quality improvement
- Provide implementation science consultative support for taskings, directives, reports to Congress, congressional testimony, briefings, updates, and presentations
- Support a community of practice of subject matter experts and implementors across the Military Health System
- Support stakeholders in incorporating implementation science into current practices and build program capacity for assessment infrastructure and data collection
- Track level of effort across dissemination, implementation, and assessment elements for the Monthly Progress Report
Requirements:
- Master's level degree, or Certification as a Health Education Specialist, or relevant degree
- Minimum of five (5) years' experience in assessing individual and population needs; developing, coordinating, implementing, or assessing health education programs or clinical practice guidelines
- Change Management Professional certification (required within 30 days of contract award)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Position of Public Trust clearance
- Experience, knowledge, or demonstrated expertise in applied scientific research, health services research, formative research, health communication, dissemination science, implementation science, technology diffusion, public health education, knowledge acquisition, assessment, evaluation, and evidence-based tool development
- Sufficient initiative, interpersonal relationship skills and social sensitivity such that they can relate constructively to a variety of people from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent time management and communication skills; able to work in a team environment and concurrently support several active projects
- PMP or Project Management Certification
- Familiarity with DoD and the Military Health System
- Ability to identify, critically review, grade, and synthesize existing scientific evidence
- Experience developing accredited continuing education content for clinical audiences
- Familiarity with VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines and clinical quality improvement leading practices
- Regular full-time W2 position
- Public Trust clearance requirements
