Job Description

Senior Requirements Engineer supporting DHS CBP mission systems through technology evaluation, requirements analysis, trade studies, and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and document user, stakeholder, and technical requirements for communications, sensor, surveillance, and other systems or products
  • Iteratively review and refine requirements as additional details become known
  • Assess technologies and guide development efforts with CBP stakeholders, program managers, and technical experts
  • Inform program strategies and enable deployment of integrated systems
  • Conduct field-focused technical assessments
  • Develop engineering and programmatic documentation
  • Establish project requirements baselines and analyze requirements to identify deficiencies and cost drivers
  • Decompose high-level functions into lower-level functions and document requirements using functional block diagrams, functional flow diagrams, timelines, and control/data flow diagrams
  • Conduct trade studies supporting functional allocation, alternative architectures, solution sets, cost/performance trade-offs, and proposed system changes
  • Conduct Analysis of Alternatives, Alternative Analysis, and DOTMLPF analysis
  • Document analysis outcomes in requirements, constraint evaluation, cost-benefit, and trade studies reports
  • Prepare and update Requirements Analysis Reports, Functional Requirements Documents, Constraint Evaluation Analysis Reports, Cost Benefit Reports, and Trade Studies Reports
  • Travel 20%, including remote and rugged areas

Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a CBP Background Investigation (BI)
  • Eligibility requirements for a U.S. Government security clearance
  • 5+ years of experience in applied engineering, technology evaluation, or systems development
  • Familiarity with DHS or DOD acquisition processes, including SELC and test planning
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and technical writing skills
  • Experience working across technical and operational teams in mission-driven environments
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or related technical field preferred
  • Active CBP BI preferred
