Job Description
Senior Software Developer building cloud analytics products from automotive and consumer data at J.D. Power. Leading architecture, production AI integration, and engineering mentorship.
Responsibilities:
- Design technical solutions connecting data pipelines, models, and user-facing experiences
- Create engineering plans for complex analytics and AI feature areas
- Identify technical risks early
- Lead code and design reviews covering architecture, structure, and testing
- Collaborate with data scientists, AI engineers, and product managers
- Turn prototypes into production-ready systems
- Mentor junior engineers on system design, debugging, and stakeholder communication
- Own end-to-end analytical solution design, including data contracts, feature stores, model endpoints, and client integration
- Make architecture and tooling decisions based on cost, risk, and value
- Evaluate emerging analytics and AI platforms and recommend adoption
- Select integration patterns and conduct proofs of concept
- Decide when to build versus reuse and balance experimentation speed with reliability
- Align senior engineers, data scientists, and product partners with business, product, and technical direction
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field plus around 8 years of relevant software development experience, or 6 years with a Master's, or 3 with a PhD; equivalent experience also welcome
- Track record of owning delivery on complex, multi-team software or data engineering work
- Strong Python, SQL, and Git skills
- Production data pipeline experience
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake, Databricks, Palantir Foundry, or similar modern cloud data platform
- JavaScript/TypeScript and React experience
- Experience designing scalable data architectures
- Knowledge of ETL/ELT and batch or streaming integration patterns
- Desirable: automotive, consumer insights, or analytics-driven SaaS background
- Desirable: mentoring engineers and running technical design reviews
- Desirable: PySpark or similar distributed data processing framework
- Desirable: CI/CD, observability tooling, and infrastructure-as-code
- Desirable: Azure, AWS, or GCP cloud infrastructure experience
- Desirable: AI/ML models in production analytics use cases
- Desirable: HTML/CSS and data visualization libraries
- Ability to work strategically and hands-on with limited oversight
- Clear communication of technical trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Decisiveness under ambiguity and collaborative working style
