Job Description
Analytics Engineer Sênior modernizing Stefanini’s GCP transformation layer with Dataform/dbt. Standardizing data quality, semantic models, and Looker Studio performance for Stefanini’s technology ecosystem.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the refactoring and standardization of the transformation layer in GCP
- Eliminate monolithic SQL queries and duplicated logic
- Define and implement SQL engineering standards in BigQuery using Dataform and/or dbt
- Develop packages and macros in JavaScript/TypeScript or Jinja/Python
- Structure clear transformation layers, code reuse, and dimensional/denormalized modeling
- Implement incremental loading patterns with idempotent reprocessing
- Implement Data Quality frameworks and the Write-Audit-Publish pattern in BigQuery
- Audit processed data and trigger Circuit Breakers to block corrupted data
- Structure transformation models and templates for standardized AI-generated code
- Maintain a documented repository of canonical Staging, Intermediate, and Marts examples
- Work with consumer teams to design optimized semantic layers and Data Marts
- Use Authorized Views, Aggregate Tables, and Materialized Views accelerated by BI Engine
- Ensure high performance, low read costs, and consistent KPIs in Looker Studio
Requirements:
- Expert-level proficiency in advanced SQL in BigQuery, including Window Functions/QUALIFY, advanced UNNEST/ARRAY_AGG manipulation, and procedural scripting
- Experience with Dataform, including JavaScript for dynamic SQL generation, and/or dbt (Jinja)
- Deep experience in data modeling for Cloud Data Warehouses
- Knowledge of Kimball methodology adapted for columnar databases
- Experience with One Big Table and nested RECORD/REPEATED fields
- Experience with Slowly Changing Dimensions (SCD Type 2)
- Knowledge of Partition Pruning and Clustering on high-cardinality keys
- Experience with incremental modeling to reduce bytes scanned and slot consumption
- Experience integrating, cataloging, and optimizing data sources for BI tools
- Knowledge of Looker Studio and BI Engine
- Proven experience creating automated data tests, including schema tests, referential integrity tests, and volume and freshness anomaly detection
- Excellent verbal and visual communication skills for translating complex business rules into clean data models
- Ability to conduct rapid root cause analyses (RCA)
- Preferred: experience migrating legacy pipelines to Dataform/dbt
- Preferred: knowledge of LookML/Looker, Cube, or the dbt Semantic Layer
- Preferred: experience analyzing lineage graphs (DAGs)
