Job Description
Senior Software Developer building Contabo’s cloud hosting platform, APIs, and infrastructure primitives. Creating backend business logic for virtual servers, storage, networking, and managed services.
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain Contabo’s new product line
- Make design, code, and infrastructure decisions based on product strategy and time-to-market
- Create the business logic for authentication, virtual servers, storage, networking, accounts, projects, feature flags, and related capabilities
- Expose infrastructure primitives to customers and internal teams
- Enable internal teams to build managed services and other value-added products
- Participate in on-call rotations
- Proactively improve system redundancy
- Collaborate as part of a new core team in a greenfield environment
Requirements:
- Production experience with at least one modern backend language: Go, Python, Java, or Rust
- Experience designing and building APIs as stable interfaces for infrastructure consumption
- Familiarity with IaaS provisioning stacks: OpenStack (Nova/Ironic/Octavia), KubeVirt/QEMU/libvirt, Ceph, and LVM
- Kubernetes or comparable orchestration experience in production
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as KVM/OpenStack or similar
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure operations
- Solution-agnostic approach to build-versus-buy evaluations
- Ownership spanning backend and infrastructure
- Comfortable with on-call and production incident response
- 10+ years of combined experience (plus)
- Fluent English
- German language skills are nice to have
