Job Description
Senior Software Engineer building Kotlin backend services for Swiftly’s AI retail platform. Developing loyalty, rebates, coupons, identity, and other core retail services on Azure.
Responsibilities:
- Work on a team of developers building services fundamental to the Swiftly platform
- Build and maintain services supporting loyalty features including rebates, loyalty, coupons, flyers, ads, portal, identity, and search
- Develop and maintain backend services using Kotlin and Quarkus
- Take ownership of the domain from architectural decisions through coding, testing, and operations
- Use IntelliJ and Gradle to build and manage project code
- Participate in CI/CD using GitHub Workflows
- Collaborate with mobile, web, and SDK engineering teams through well-defined service interfaces
- Work with Product Managers to determine requirements and UI developers to agree on API endpoints
- Operate production services, including on-call and incident management
- Review logs and debug services to fix bugs
- Design and write code for new features and maintain existing services handling loyalty, rebates, coupons, identity, ads, ecommerce, and flyers
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- B.S. in Computer Science/Engineering or comparable industry experience
- 5+ years of industry experience designing, building, and maintaining backend services
- Confidence writing code in Kotlin or Java
- Experience with a modern backend framework such as Quarkus, Micronaut, SpringBoot, or similar
- Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL
- Experience building and running services on Azure or similar cloud platforms
- Experience with Quarkus specifically preferred
- Experience with NoSQL such as DynamoDB preferred
- Experience with Kubernetes preferred
- Experience with CI/CD using GitHub Workflows preferred
- Experience with security protocols such as OAuth and Firebase preferred
- Startup experience and comfort working on small remote teams preferred
