Job Description
Senior Software Engineer building PHP, TypeScript, and Node.js invoicing systems for easybill’s 22,000+ business customers. Improving e-invoicing workflows, scalability, and reliable platform operations.
Responsibilities:
- Develop new features and take ownership of complete projects from initial concept through stable operation
- Develop backend features with PHP 8.x and Symfony, including domain logic, APIs, and integrations
- Work in a data-intensive codebase that has evolved over more than 18 years
- Develop modern frontends with TypeScript, React, and TanStack
- Develop Node.js services with TypeScript and Next.js
- Contribute to JVM microservices using Java and Kotlin in the e-invoicing domain
- Migrate data, refactor existing modules, and gradually modernize established PHP components
- Perform in-depth error analysis and debugging
- Make extensive use of Claude Code as a productivity tool
- Contribute to infrastructure and local containerized development environments using Docker
- Understand and improve systems while helping shape the e-invoicing landscape
- Collaborate independently, proactively, and in a self-organized manner within the engineering team
Requirements:
- Extensive, independent, senior-level expertise in software development with PHP and Symfony
- Strong skills in domain design, testing, and performance optimization within a large, long-lived codebase
- Depending on your area of focus, additional experience with TypeScript and React
- Proficiency with relational databases such as MySQL, including query optimization and data modeling for large volumes of data
- Ability to make sound technical decisions and quickly familiarize yourself with new systems
- A strong sense of ownership, eagerness to learn, and a commitment to solving problems thoroughly
- Fluent German
- Good English skills
- Bonus: Experience with Node.js, data structures and algorithms, distributed systems, and data-intensive applications
- Bonus: Experience with JVM languages such as Java or Kotlin
- Bonus: Open-source contributions or public experiments on GitHub
