Job Description
Senior Software Engineer building AI-assisted SaaS products for Billtrust’s B2B accounts receivable platform. Designing scalable features, APIs, and services while mentoring engineers in AI-driven development practices.
Responsibilities:
- Design solutions and deliver complex features across product platforms end-to-end
- Specify, implement, validate, deploy, and support features using AI tools and co-worker agents such as Claude Code
- Own specification quality for complex features, including edge cases and non-functional requirements
- Translate product requirements into detailed technical specifications with the Product Manager
- Lead technical decisions and contribute domain expertise within the cohort
- Lead AI-assisted implementation and review AI-generated and peer code for correctness, security, performance, and architectural alignment
- Validate AI-generated tests and ensure comprehensive test coverage
- Improve AI-assisted development practices, including spec templates, prompt patterns, and validation workflows
- Design scalable software and REST APIs with a DevOps mindset
- Support and maintain UI and backend services
- Mentor engineers on AI tool usage, specification writing, and code review practices
- Share knowledge across cohorts
Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience designing and implementing scalable SaaS software
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Firm understanding of data structures and scalable software design
- Strong coding ability in C#, C++, PHP, Java, Node.js, or a similar high-level language
- Experience with HTML5, CSS/Sass, Angular, React, TypeScript/JavaScript, and REST APIs
- Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server or MySQL
- Experience with AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar
- Strong code review skills for AI-generated and human-written code
- Collaboration and communication skills, including mentoring engineers and working with Product Managers and cross-functional teams
- Source control management using Git or similar
- Preferred: spec-driven agentic AI workflows
- Preferred: NoSQL data stores such as MongoDB or DynamoDB and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
- Preferred: testable application design principles
- Preferred: development process improvement or workflow optimization experience
