Job Description
Sr. Staff Engineer shaping architecture and scalable systems for Hims & Hers, a personalized digital health and wellness platform. Driving technical strategy, reliability, and engineering excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Define and evolve the architectural vision for customer-facing systems in alignment with business strategy
- Lead cross-organization initiatives addressing long-term scale, system boundaries, and foundational capabilities
- Establish patterns and frameworks for quality, resilience, and operational excellence
- Serve as the authority on design decisions and foster alignment across teams
- Collaborate with engineering and product leadership to shape product direction
- Drive organization-wide adoption of scalable practices, tools, and development norms
- Mentor senior technical leaders and elevate engineering capabilities
- Lead through complexity and ambiguity, remove organizational blockers, and accelerate strategic initiatives
- Translate customer needs and product goals into scalable technical solutions
- Design systems and team boundaries for sustainable growth
- Drive investment in observability, migrations, and reliability early in the design process
Requirements:
- 12+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong record of group-level technical leadership
- Experience with Kotlin, Java, or Go
- Deep understanding of system design for scale and performance
- Experience introducing and scaling shared infrastructure, frameworks, or libraries across multiple teams
- Proficiency with CI/CD workflows, including CircleCI and GitHub
- Experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog
- Ability to drive architectural clarity and strategic technical alignment across functions
- Experience translating customer and clinical needs into reliable, maintainable, high-impact technical solutions
- Track record of improving developer experience, team velocity, and system sustainability
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without restriction for any employer
- No immigration sponsorship requirement by Hims & Hers in the U.S.
