Job Description
Site Manager leading hyperscale data center construction for Gray Construction. Managing field operations, safety, scheduling, subcontractors, commissioning, and project closeout across U.S. sites.
Responsibilities:
- Lead day-to-day field operations for complex, mission-critical data center construction projects
- Oversee construction from site mobilization through final turnover and commissioning
- Own project safety, quality, schedule, planning, jobsite logistics, on-site management, subcontractor coordination, and risk assessment
- Maintain the overall project schedule and task-specific two- to three-week lookahead schedules
- Provide real-time schedule data to the Project Manager and Scheduler
- Enforce site safety requirements and stop work when safety infractions are found
- Train project team members on Gray software, including CMO, Navisworks, Bluebeam, Concur, E-Time, and GoGray
- Conduct site and weekly coordination meetings for subcontractor activities
- Prepare monthly reports covering safety, schedule, subcontractor performance, quality, budget, and customer relations
- Collaborate with the Project Manager team on subcontract buyout and procurement scheduling
- Lead, teach, coach, train, and mentor project team members and subordinate supervisors
- Establish and manage the jobsite safety culture
- Set up and close out construction sites
- Walk projects daily to verify safe, quality-compliant, on-schedule work
- Communicate project information to project managers, design managers, customers, site teams, subcontractors, and field operations
- Review and coordinate architectural, structural, shop, and other drawings
- Ensure construction complies with plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Review project budgets and financial impacts with the Project Manager
- Assist with scopes of work, subcontractor/vendor evaluation, pre-award meetings, cost-to-complete reports, monthly billings, and status reports
- Implement project closeout and punch-list procedures
- Own overall project-team coordination and schedule management after mobilization to meet or exceed customer expectations
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements:
- 5+ years of industrial construction experience, with data center or mission-critical experience strongly preferred
- Minimum of 10+ years of related construction experience
- Proven experience leading large-scale, complex construction projects from mobilization through commissioning and turnover
- Strong understanding of mission-critical construction environments and the importance of schedule, quality, and safety
- Strong understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, and critical path activities
- Experience with overall responsibility for field activities, including collaboration between design, project, and schedule management preferred
- Demonstrated leadership abilities to manage and direct on-site project teams
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, financial reports, and legal/contract documents
- Strong people management skills
- Basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications
- Skills utilizing Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, and SharePoint
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or similar construction technology is a plus
- Must not require visa sponsorship; role is not eligible for visa sponsorship
- Ability to travel to project sites throughout the United States and, in some cases, outside the U.S.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands and arms, reach, and talk or hear
- Ability to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch
- Ability to frequently lift or move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs
- Ability to work in wet/humid conditions, around moving mechanical parts, outdoors, at heights, around fumes or airborne particles, extreme temperatures, electrical shock risks, explosives, and vibration
- Ability to work overtime when required
- Supervisory capability, including interviewing, hiring, training, assigning work, appraising performance, and resolving problems
