Job Description

Disability Benefits Expert conducting consultations for SSI eligibility assessment and managing cases. Offering unbiased guidance on federal and state benefits through a remote work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one consultations to assess SSI eligibility.
  • Evaluate household composition, countable income, resource levels, deeming, and state-specific variations.
  • Explain SSI application steps, documentation requirements, and pathways, including CAL, TERI, Presumptive Disability, Disabled Adult Child, and 1619(b).
  • Manage cases from creation to closure with accurate documentation.
  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of SSI regulations, Medicaid eligibility rules, POMS guidance, and SSA processes.
  • Meet or exceed FEDlogic QA quality standards and participate in internal improvement initiatives.
  • Any other duties as assigned by leadership.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years of adjudication experience with Social Security Administration (SSA), specifically involving SSI, disability evaluation or Medicaid-related determinations.
  • Strong working knowledge of POMS related to: SSI income, resources deeming and disability evaluation Social Security (Retirement, Disability and SSI) Medicare.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills and be detail oriented.
  • Strong writing, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Prolonged sitting and computer work.
  • Must be able to handle confidential sensitive medical information.
  • Proficiency with Customer Relationship Management systems (i.e. Salesforce and Tableau), workforce management tools, Google Workplace, Slack and minimal usage of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience providing benefits counseling, healthcare, eligibility analysis, advocacy or case management is preferred.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations or individuals navigating serious health or financial challenges is preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are helpful.
