Job Description
Senior Software Architect modernizing TrueNorth’s financial services platform. Leading Azure, .NET, Kubernetes, DevOps, and architectural initiatives for complex client systems.
Responsibilities:
- Assess the current software and cloud architecture and identify opportunities for improvement, modernization, simplification, and technical debt reduction
- Define and drive architectural decisions and technical roadmaps aligned with business and engineering priorities
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across application architecture, cloud infrastructure, integrations, DevOps practices, and production reliability
- Work closely with development, QA, infrastructure, and client teams in a collaborative Agile environment
- Independently investigate complex technical and production issues, identify root causes, and recommend immediate and systemic solutions
- Identify architectural risks, configuration drift, obsolete components, scalability concerns, security risks, and other areas requiring technical attention
- Evaluate existing and emerging technologies and recommend pragmatic modernization strategies
- Provide architectural guidance for cloud-native, containerized, Kubernetes, and serverless solutions
- Review Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, deployment, and environment-management practices
- Provide architectural guidance for APIs, third-party integrations, asynchronous processes, file-processing workflows, and other integration patterns
- Establish and promote software architecture and engineering standards across teams and repositories
- Work directly with client technical leadership to understand needs, communicate findings, and propose solutions
- Communicate technical problems, architectural decisions, risks, trade-offs, and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Assess the business and operational impact of technical decisions
- Coach and mentor engineers on architecture, design patterns, development practices, and technical problem-solving
- Proactively identify and take ownership of technical initiatives
- Balance long-term architectural quality with pragmatic delivery needs while managing technical debt
Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with proven experience in software architecture or technical leadership roles
- Strong hands-on experience with .NET / C# and modern backend architectures
- Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based architectures
- Experience with Kubernetes / AKS, Docker, and containerized applications
- Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform
- Experience with Azure Functions, Azure Container Apps, serverless architectures, or comparable cloud-native technologies
- Strong understanding of CI/CD and modern DevOps practices
- Solid understanding of the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experience designing and troubleshooting distributed systems, REST APIs, third-party integrations, and asynchronous/background processes
- Strong understanding of networking, cloud security, secrets management, and environment configuration
- Experience with production troubleshooting, logging, monitoring, observability, performance, and system reliability
- Ability to analyze and understand existing applications, repositories, infrastructure, and architecture with limited existing documentation
- Ability to move comfortably between high-level architecture discussions and hands-on technical investigation
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis capabilities
- Experience defining technical roadmaps and translating architectural recommendations into actionable engineering initiatives
- Experience working directly with clients and senior technical stakeholders
- Experience in banking, lending, fintech, or another regulated industry is highly desirable
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
