Job Description
Software engineer building scalable shipping services for ShipBob’s ecommerce fulfillment platform in India. Developing carrier integrations, rating, labels, tracking, compliance, and fulfillment workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Develop production-level software in coordination with the team
- Design and build scalable, reliable services for ShipBob’s shipping platform
- Build and maintain carrier integrations, rating, label generation, tracking, shipping compliance, and fulfillment operational workflows
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners and the Engineering Manager
- Become a go-to expert in one codebase area while understanding the broader system architecture
- Provide technical advice, influence technical decisions, and research and propose technologies
- Scope and stage work into well-defined milestones
- Deliver software on time and improve estimation accuracy
- Own technical testing and performance plans
- Identify and solve important problems, coordinating on cross-cutting technical issues
- Set direction at the project/service level and influence Pillar-level decision-making
- Proactively address technical debt
- Improve others through code reviews, documentation, technical guidance, mentoring, and Tech Lead responsibilities
- Participate in the Architectural Review Board and review projects outside the core area
- Balance technical, analytical, and product needs when leading solutions
- Identify technical problems, propose strategies, communicate standards, and gain buy-in
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary
Requirements:
- 6+ years of experience
- Excellent problem-solving, programming, and communication skills
- Object-oriented mindset
- Ability to work quickly and collaboratively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Ability to own small, medium, and large features from design through implementation
- Hands-on coding approach to engineering mentorship
- Defensive coding mindset with knowledge of OWASP
- Ability to own service-level system design
- Demonstrated experience with .NET (C#, ASP.NET MVC), SQL, and database design
- Proficiency with JavaScript, JSON, and REST APIs
- Solid understanding of Agile software development and team building/leadership
- Hands-on experience automating infrastructure and build processes
- Nice-to-have: software quality testing (unit, integration, regression)
- Nice-to-have: cross-service system design
- Nice-to-have: AI-driven software development practices and workflows
- Nice-to-have: Model Context Protocol (MCP) and AI agents
- Nice-to-have: Microsoft Azure, including Functions, WebJobs, App Services, Service Bus, Storage Queues, and DevOps
- Nice-to-have: event-driven and service-oriented architecture
- Nice-to-have: Vue.js
