Job Description
Software Engineer building Python-based cloud data systems for Kunai’s banking and fintech clients. Designing scalable pipelines, real-time streams, and data platforms using AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks.
Responsibilities:
- Build production software and data systems beyond traditional ETL pipelines
- Drive software and data engineering for a critical initiative for a premier banking client
- Work hands-on with cloud-native technologies and modern architecture
- Develop back-end systems with a data focus
- Perform enterprise-scale data movement and transformation during data migration activities
- Analyze large datasets using cloud data platforms
- Architect real-time, event-driven data streams
- Work with large-scale cloud data warehousing, performance optimization, and data modeling
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in application development with strong Python programming skills
- 4+ years of hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
- 4+ years working with relational databases, including PostgreSQL, and writing complex SQL queries
- Experience with data migration activities in cloud environments, focusing on enterprise-scale data movement and transformation
- Experience working with cloud data platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake to analyze large datasets
- Familiarity with distributed data processing and batch/stream processing tools such as Apache Spark, Kafka, or AWS Kinesis
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or similar
- Familiarity with enterprise ETL pipelines, Data Quality controls, and compliance Governance
- Practical experience architecting real-time, event-driven data streams using Kafka/OneStream
- Familiarity with large-scale cloud data warehousing, performance optimization, and modeling within Snowflake and OneLake
- Bachelor's Degree; in lieu of a degree, three years of specialized training and/or progressively responsible work experience in technology for each missing year of college, in addition to the minimum years of experience required for the role
- Nice to have: Java development experience
- Nice to have: Experience with AWS Glue or other AWS data integration services
- Nice to have: Proficiency with UNIX/Linux environments, including basic shell scripting
- Nice to have: Experience working in Agile teams and knowledge of Agile engineering practices
- Nice to have: Prior consulting experience or aptitude for client-facing collaborative environments
