Job Description
Software Engineer II maintaining VB.NET billing workflows for KLDiscovery’s eDiscovery and data recovery services. Modernizing desktop systems toward ASP.NET Core and Blazor.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain the internal billing workflow platform's VB.NET WinForms desktop application used to process monthly client billings before invoicing
- Write and optimize T-SQL, stored procedures, and SQL Server Agent jobs
- Develop new features, system enhancements, and performance optimizations during the platform's modernization effort
- Contribute to migration toward a modern web-based architecture such as ASP.NET Core/Blazor
- Write and maintain automated tests and increase test coverage
- Participate in code reviews and follow coding standards, style guidelines, and code-audit protocols
- Collaborate with BI, Analyst, Processing, and Submission stakeholders to translate billing requirements into technical solutions
- Assist with technical design discussions for the current and future system under senior-engineer guidance
- Use Claude Code and other AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality
Requirements:
- Fluent English communication skills (C1 level or equivalent)
- 3–5 years of hands-on software development experience
- Hands-on experience with VB.NET and .NET Framework required
- Hands-on T-SQL and SQL Server experience, including database design, query optimization, stored procedures, and SQL Server Agent job scheduling
- Experience developing and maintaining WinForms desktop applications, including MDI architecture
- Experience writing and maintaining automated unit, functional, and regression tests in a .NET environment
- Ability to design, estimate, and deliver well-defined software solutions from business requirements
- Exposure to C#, ASP.NET Core, Blazor, or Entity Framework Core is a plus
- Familiarity with Angular is a plus
- Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, and code-quality gating tools such as SonarQube is a plus
- Understanding of financial systems, financial processes, and billing/invoicing terminology is highly desirable
- Eagerness to grow technical ownership with mentorship and guidance
- Experience with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools is preferred
