Job Description
Software Engineer II developing, deploying, and supporting secure, scalable applications for The Home Depot. Automating infrastructure, monitoring, testing, and production resiliency.
Responsibilities:
- Independently develop and assist in designing products for customers and associates
- Create, deploy, and support production applications
- Participate in configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning, and production monitoring
- Collaborate and pair with UX, engineering, and product management team members
- Document, review, and ensure quality and change control standards are met
- Work with the Product Team to ensure user stories are developer-ready, understandable, and testable
- Write code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test cases
- Write code or scripts for destructive testing to ensure production resiliency
- Perform program configuration, modification, and setup activities on large projects using HD-approved methodology
- Configure commercial off-the-shelf solutions to meet evolving business needs
- Create dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to proactively capture and address issues
- Participate in agile processes and contribute to team improvement
Requirements:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
- Bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
- Minimum 2 years of work experience
- Experience in writing SQL queries against a relational database
- Experience in version control systems
- Experience in front end technology such as HTML, CSS, and Javascript/Typescript frameworks
- Experience in an object-oriented programming language (preferably Java)
- Experience in source code version control
- Experience in Relational or noSQL database technology
- Experience in cloud computing techniques
- Experience in CI/CD tools
- Experience in microservice-based architecture
- Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques
- Exposure to security frameworks for user and services authorization and authentication
- Exposure to creating and executing unit, functional, destructive and performance tests
