Job Description
Software Engineer owning end-to-end development of ThriveCart’s TypeScript/NextJS replacement system. Building commerce tools used by creators, coaches, consultants, and businesses worldwide.
Responsibilities:
- Own features from requirements through production, including breakdown, development, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance
- Build and evolve the new TypeScript/NextJS system replacing the legacy platform
- Take feature requests, estimate work, and deliver independently
- Write clean, tested, production-ready code
- Make technical decisions and explain trade-offs
- Monitor production features using logs, metrics, and alerts
- Refactor, document, and reduce technical debt
- Investigate dev-escalations and participate in incident response
- For L4, coordinate domain incident investigations, delegate tasks, communicate status, and ensure post-mortems
- Write and maintain runbooks and documentation
- Participate in the shared on-call rotation after ramp-up
- Write unit and integration tests
- Participate in code reviews and identify edge cases and risks during planning
- Work with Product, Design, QA, and other engineers
- Contribute to sprint planning and technical discussions
- Mentor junior engineers at L3+ levels
- Progress from shipping an initial production feature to independently delivering end-to-end features and handling domain dev-escalations
Requirements:
- Active, hands-on TypeScript/NextJS experience
- Experience with PostgreSQL, Prisma, AWS (EC2, RDS, CloudWatch, SQS, S3, NLB), Docker, GitHub Actions CI/CD, and CodeRabbit
- Experience with Vitest and Playwright
- Daily use of AI coding tools for code generation, debugging, test writing, codebase exploration, and code review acceleration
- Ability to understand and evaluate all shipped code, including AI-generated code
- PHP professional experience is a plus, but not required
- L3: Ability to lead small projects, mentor L1/L2 engineers, improve the codebase proactively, and teach effective AI workflows
- L4: Ability to act as technical authority for a domain, drive cross-team projects, set team AI standards, and drive incident response
